Example: "When I saw that funny cat sitting next to you, I laughed a little, but when I saw the other picture, I laughed so hard that I fell off my chair, injured myself, and had to take a quick trip to the emergency room."

Beginner level:

LOL - Acronym, stands for "Laughing Out Loud". Indicates light amusement. Please note that it should not be used in cases of heavier amusement, as you will be learning another acronym for this.

newbie - Any new person. Generally used in a derogatory fashion.

Beginner example: "When I saw that funny cat sitting next to you, I LOLed, but when I saw the picture of the office newbie, I laughed so hard that I fell off my chair, injured myself, and had to take a quick trip to the emergency room."

Intermediate level:

own - To defeat, usually in personal combat. "owned" is a widely accepted usage.

BRB - Acronym, stands for "Be Right Back". Used in situations where the person must leave quickly, but will return just as quickly.

OMG - Acronym, stands for "OH MY GOD". Used to express shock. Rather like the feeling you'd get after hearing President Bush successfully pronounce "depreciate".

AFK - Acronym, stands for "Away From Keyboard". Used to indicate that you are not at your computer, and talking to you would be roughly as effective as attempting to explain the definition of "depreciate" to President Bush.

ROFL - Acronym, stands for "Rolling On the Floor Laughing". Used to indicate that you are so amused that you have decided to roll about on the floor. From what I hear, many people express their mirth by rolling about on the floor.

Intermediate example: "OMG When I saw that funny cat sitting next to you, I LOLed, but when I saw the picture of the office newbie, I ROFLed, got owned, and had to OMG brb to the hospital. AFK"

Advanced level:

LMAO - Acronym, stands for "Laughing My Ass Off". Used to indicate situations that are so humorous that one's buttocks have fallen off. This happens more often than an objective bystander would think.

pown - A more intense form of "owned".

DUDE - An excellent form of Webanese address. It must be capitalized, but it can be used when addressing either gender.

teh - A Webanese version of the english "The".

u - A Webannese version of the english "you". No spaces are required between single letter words in Webanese

2 - A Webanese version of the english "to", "two", or "too". Good luck figuring out which one it is. No spaces are required between single letter words.

Advanced example: "DUDE OMG When I saw teh funny cat sitting next 2u, I LOLed, but when I saw teh picture of teh office newbie, I LMAOed, got powned, and had to OMG brb to the hospital. AFK"

L33t lev31:

"Leet", "l33t", "l337", "1337" - All derived from the english "elite".

Leet speak - A highly advanced form of Webanese. Multiple spellings are common in leet speak, and are indeed encouraged. Most words are described as english words with numbers taking the place of many letters. Random capitalization is also considered good form.

ROTFLMAO - Acronym, stands for "Rolling On the Floor Laughing My Ass Off". A common problem on the internet.

LOLLERCAT - A humorous picture of a cat.

Noob - A more derogatory version of "Newbie".

+ - A Webanese version of the english "and"

Advanced leet-speak - A dialect of leet in which any number that can take the place of a letter does so. The use of punctuation is highly discouraged, with a lone exception for the exclamation point. !, ~, 1, and "one" are all treated as synonyms. Any word that cannot be expressed as a number may, at the discretion of the speaker, be presented as a series of -, /, |, and \. Any letters or series of letters that are phonetically equivelent in english can be used interchangeably.

ORZ - This suffix can be added to any word to increase its potency.

HAXORZ - A Webanese version of the english term "Hacker". May be a compliment or an insult, depending on context.

joo - An advanced Webanese version of the english word "you".
